Fresh thyme leaves or fresh minced rosemary garnish
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350F. Like a medium-sized baking dish with parchment paper.
Halve the figs lengthwise and place cut side up in the parchment-lined baking dish.
In a small pot warm the honey, butter, orange juice, orange zest and cinnamon until butter is melted. Once the butter is melted, whisk everything together to combine.
Drizzle the honey mixture over top of all the figs, making sure the halves get a good coating.
Roast for 25-35 minutes or until the figs are quite soft and jammy. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.Serve fig halves on Greek yogurt or mascarpone with a drizzle of the syrup from the baking dish, fresh minced rosemary or thyme, chopped pistachios and another drizzle of honey if desired.
Store fully cooled figs in the syrup from the pan in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Notes
Black mission figs are my favourite to use in this recipe.
If you want a good swap for honey, you can try maple syrup. The flavour will be slightly different but still super delish!
