Easy Honey Roasted Figs with Pistachios & Yogurt
These Honey Roasted Figs are a delicious and easy way to ease into Fall season.

Fresh figs are roasted with honey, cinnamon and orange until they’re jammy and softened.
Serve with your favourite Greek yogurt, crunchy pistachios and fresh minced rosemary for a delicious bite.
Just like my Stone Fruit Breakfast Crumble, these honey roasted figs work for both dessert and breakfast. It’s really up to your tastes!
By roasting the figs in a hot oven, the sweetness of the figs comes through beautifully. I think this is one of the best ways to enjoy figs! Fig season typically runs from June/July to late October so you have plenty of time to enjoy them whether for breakfast or dessert.

Why you’ll love this roasted fig recipe
- It’s versatile! Serve with Greek yogurt for breakfast or mascarpone for dessert.
- Easy to make, the figs roast in about 30 minutes.
- A perfect way to enjoy seasonal produce!
- Make a batch of these honey roasted figs to enjoy in a yogurt bowl or as a chia pudding topper during the week.

Ingredients needed
Fresh figs: you’ll need eight fresh black mission figs; each fig will be halved before roasting
Honey: liquid honey works best as the syrup comes together so easily using it; however if you have creamy honey, that works too
Butter: I like to use salted butter in this recipe
Cinnamon: ground cinnamon pairs beautifully with the orange flavour of the honey syrup
Orange: you’ll need both orange juice and orange zest
Nuts: I love to top this breakfast or dessert with chopped pistachios or even chopped hazelnuts
Fresh herbs: depending on your tastes, fresh thyme leaves or minced fresh rosemary work well as a garnish

How to make this simple recipe
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F. Like a medium-sized baking dish with parchment paper.
Step 2: Halve the figs lengthwise and place cut side up in the parchment-lined baking dish.
Step 3: In a small pot warm the honey, butter, orange juice, orange zest and cinnamon until butter is melted. Once the butter is melted, whisk everything together to combine.
Step 4: Drizzle the honey mixture over top of all the figs, making sure the halves get a good coating.
Step 5: Roast for 25-35 minutes or until the figs are quite soft and jammy. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Step 6: Serve fig halves on Greek yogurt or mascarpone with a drizzle of the syrup from the baking dish, fresh minced rosemary or thyme, chopped pistachios and another drizzle of honey if desired.

Expert tips
- Ripe figs will roast better and provide better flavour.
- Look for more ripe figs that are just soft to the touch and have a deeper purple colour.
- If you want a good swap for honey, you can try maple syrup. The flavour will be slightly different but still super delish!
- This sweet fig recipe also works as a dessert when paired with vanilla ice cream.

Common questions
Where can I find fresh figs?
You can find fresh black mission figs in the produce section of the local grocery store or at the local farmer’s market.
Do I have to remove the skin of the figs?
The skin of the figs is edible. If the fig has a hard stem on the top. you can remove that before halving the figs.
Will other varieties of figs work?
I find the black mission figs work best and they are the most popular variety found in grocery stores from June through October.
How to store these honey roasted figs
Once fully cooled, store the roasted figs in an airtight container along with any of the juices from the baking dish for up to 3 days.
